What it changes

A home that protects you

  • Warm

Cold air no longer slips in around windows and doors.

  • Dry

Water runs off the joint instead of getting into the wall.

  • No visitors

Mice and insects find the door closed.

  • No worries

A lifetime warranty on DOWSIL™ 791, and frames that no longer need painting.

Our services

Three trades, around your openings

We seal the joints, protect the frames and close the way in for pests.

Professional caulkingNew joints: cold air and water stay outside.

A cracked joint lets in cold air, water and insects. We remove all of the old sealant and apply a new joint, clean and continuous, around every opening of the building.

All about professional caulking
  • Windows, inside and outside
  • Entry doors, patio doors and garage doors
  • Joints between siding, brick and stone
  • Wall penetrations: dryer, range hood, taps, wires
  • Entire building façades
  • Door and window weatherstripping
Aluminum claddingProtected frames, no more repainting.

Aluminum cladding (also called capping) covers the wood of frames and mouldings with custom-bent aluminum. The wood is sheltered from water and sun, and there is no more repainting.

All about aluminum cladding
  • Window frames and mouldings
  • Door and patio door frames
  • Window sills
  • Garage door surrounds
Pest-proof caulkingEntry points sealed: mice and insects stay outside.

Mice, insects and other visitors get in through small openings: around pipes, wires, wall penetrations and foundations. We close them with specialized caulking, steel mesh and sealing of the openings.

All about pest-proof caulking
  • Openings around pipes, wires and ducts
  • Around dryer, range hood and ventilation outlets
  • Joints between the foundation and the siding
  • Cracks and gaps around frames

Our method

We never put new over old

New sealant doesn't stick to a worn joint. We remove the old one completely, then apply a continuous joint, tooled so water runs off.

  1. 01

    Removal

We remove all of the old sealant. New sealant applied over old does not hold.

  2. 02

    Preparation

Surfaces cleaned, dry and free of residue, so the sealant adheres.

  3. 03

    Application

New sealant, in the colour you choose, applied in one continuous joint.

  4. 04

    Tooling

The joint is smoothed and shaped so water runs off it.

  5. 05

    Clean-up

We leave with the debris. You have nothing to pick up.

On the job: old joint removed, new joint applied and tooled.

Frequently asked questions

When should caulking be redone?

When the joint cracks, peels, turns black or gets hard. Sun and frost wear it out faster on exposed façades. If you are not sure, we check it during the assessment.

How soon can you come?

Soon. We book the assessment quickly, and the work follows without a long wait. And we caulk all year round, summer and winter: no need to wait for spring.

Why remove the old joint instead of adding over it?

New sealant does not stick well to an old joint. It peels off within a season. Removing the old one is the only way to get a joint that lasts.

What products do you use?

Professional sealants from the DOWSIL™ range, such as 791 and CWS. Joints made with DOWSIL™ 791 carry a lifetime warranty on materials and labour. On request, we install a specific product, or the sealant you supply.

How much does caulking cost?

The price depends on the number of openings, the linear feet and access. We measure on site, then give you a detailed written quote. The quote is free.

Is your work eligible for subsidies?

Yes. Our caulking work meets the requirements of the assistance programs. For the LogisVert "roof insulation and caulking" measure (up to $1,500, depending on eligibility), caulking alone does not qualify: roof insulation is a separate job, done by the contractor of your choice. Combined, both jobs are eligible. Other assistance exists depending on the work.

Do you take on large projects?

Yes: condominiums, rental buildings, commercial and industrial buildings, and subcontracting for general contractors.

Do you also do insulation?

Not Région Calfeutrage. Attic insulation is the trade of Région Isolation, the other division of SLT Construction.

Are you licensed?

Yes. Région Calfeutrage is a division of SLT Construction, holder of RBQ licence 5874-6892-01.
