LogisVert: the "Roof insulation and caulking" measure

Through its LogisVert program, Hydro-Québec offers a measure that combines two jobs: roof insulation and caulking. The assistance for this measure can be up to $1,500, depending on eligibility.

Important: caulking on its own doesn't qualify. The two jobs go together. The insulation can be done separately, by the contractor of your choice. Once combined, the work is eligible, as long as the other conditions are met.

Our other division, Région Isolation, does attic insulation. So you can hand both parts to our crews, or have the insulation done by another company. The choice is yours.

If you use two companies, coordinate the dates and keep both invoices together. Each one must clearly describe its work. Before you start, read the measure's conditions carefully: it saves you from a refusal over a small detail.

Who is eligible

According to Hydro-Québec's page, the measure is for the owner of a house in Quebec that is lived in year-round and heated mainly with electricity. It can only be obtained once per home. Condos and plexes are not on the list for this measure.

For insulation, the roof must reach at least RSI 8.8 (R-50) over its entire surface. Replacing doors and windows is excluded from the measure.

The owner applies, not the contractor. An application combining several measures can receive a 5% bonus. Under the program's general rule, the application must be submitted within 9 months of installation.

The list of items to caulk

Hydro-Québec asks that every spot letting air through be caulked. The page also lists items to be treated, whether or not they show air leaks. So the caulker has to do a full round, not just the leaky windows.

  • Windows
  • Exterior doors and patio doors
  • Attic access hatches
  • Range hoods and bathroom fans
  • Electrical outlets
  • Fireplaces

The invoice and the contractor

The invoice must include the contractor's RBQ licence number, their GST and QST numbers, a detailed list of the caulking work and its cost. No photos are required for this measure. Hydro-Québec also requires a contractor registered with the Registraire des entreprises and holding RBQ licence sub-category 7.0, "Isolation, étanchéité, couvertures et revêtement extérieur" (insulation, sealing, roofing and exterior cladding).

Before signing, check the contractor's licence on the Régie du bâtiment du Québec website. Conditions change: reread the participation guide on Hydro-Québec's website before your work. This article is based on Hydro-Québec's LogisVert page, consulted in October 2026.

Our role is simple. We are a private contractor. We are neither mandated nor accredited by any program. We do the work and give you a detailed invoice, and you are the one who applies. No amount is guaranteed: the program decides.

Rénoclimat: another program, other rules

Rénoclimat is the Government of Quebec's program. Its rules changed in 2026, and caulking on its own no longer qualifies for assistance: the program focuses mainly on insulation.

Rénoclimat or LogisVert: it's one or the other for insulating the same attic, not both. Before you start, check which one suits your house on the official pages of both programs.

During the assessment, we can tell you which caulking work the LogisVert measure requires, and give you the detailed invoice it calls for.

Pitfalls to avoid

Grant programs don't go door to door. If someone shows up at your home on behalf of Hydro-Québec or the government to sell you work, be wary. Always check the information on the official websites.

Be wary of promised amounts too. No one can guarantee you assistance before the program has accepted your application. Keep your invoices, check the dates and read the current conditions.

  • Doing the caulking without the roof insulation and expecting LogisVert assistance
  • Forgetting items on the list, such as outlets or the attic hatch
  • Getting an invoice without the detailed list of caulking work
  • Submitting the application after the deadline

Are condos eligible?

Not for this LogisVert measure. According to Hydro-Québec, condos and plexes are not on its list. Check the other parts of the programs on the official websites.

Do you apply for the grant for me?

No. The owner applies. We are a private contractor, neither mandated nor accredited by any program. We give you a detailed invoice listing the caulking work.
